The BAATO network seeks to reflect the many who are committed, passionate and actively engaged in addressing, the psychological needs of Black and Asian people in Britain. |
BAATO Conference
2010 What people have been saying about BAATO "When I was training as a psychotherapist
it was very difficult to find an experienced and qualified practitioner
who could reflect some of my difficulties as a black woman of multiple
heritage. The BAATO website offers clients and trainees access to counsellors,
psychotherapists, supervisors and trainers who understand and have experience
of the BME communities in Britain today. At some point many of us need
to have the experience of being in the room with someone who has a shared
or allied understanding of our struggles and challenges. Additionally
this should be someone who has spent time clinically considering issues
of identity and their relevance to the work of therapy. I believe the
BAATO project to be an important development in the fields of psychotherapy
and counselling because it offers you this opportunity" "It is particularly helpful to
be able to refer clients for therapy and trainees for supervision to
experienced colleagues. It is good to have a pioneering organisation
like BAATO for Therapists of Asian and African backgrounds to meet and
work together" "I am a qualified counsellor of
Indian/ West Indian parentage. I was delighted to read about your directory
and to have the opportunity to network with fellow Black & Asian
therapists, best wishes" "I believe that a network of committed therapy professionals can have a valid voice in the current arena" - Ros Guthrie If you have constructive comments or suggestions about this site or would like to contribute to articles or the booklist please e-mail us at eugene@baato.co.uk ©2009 Black and Asian Therapists Online |
